Technical Specs: Offroad Camping Trailer Innovations

Insulation might not be the first thing you think of when you see all the high tech options available on our offroad camping trailers, but if you’ve spent a night or two in a poorly insulated trailer, we think you’ll be extremely impressed with how we designed and executed the insulation of all our trailers.

At its basic level the innovation in our choice of insulation is about materials. Instead of using sprayed insulation or blow insulation, we use rigid insulation, cut and fit to be a highly versatile and durable solution to keep you warm year ‘round. Remember, retaining heat is every bit as important as the ability to add heat to your sleeping area when you’re in the backcountry.

We could discuss our heating and cooling options endlessly, but we’d like to focus on one small feature related to hot and cold water, as well as the HVAC system that really sets our designers and engineers apart, and that is serviceability. All systems require maintenance, and we’ve spent many years thinking through ways we can make our components reliable, durable and serviceable.

Looking specifically at the water system, there is an exterior control panel which allows for better access and easier service when that time comes. This is the type of enhancement that many new customers might not think twice about but offroad camping veterans will really appreciate.

If you’ve taken any vehicle off-road, you know the suspension makes all the difference. The amount of clearance you have and the travel of the suspension can mean the difference between getting stuck and getting through. We consider our Timbren 3500HD suspension best in class and it comes standard on our Expedition 2.0 and Pando 2.0 trailers. However, we’re never interested in putting a stop to innovation, which is why we are hard at work on the OGT Evolution suspension in collaboration with Fabtech Motorsports. You can see the standard configuration and the improved configuration currently in the works. We think you’ll be impressed with this option.

We’ve only just scratched the surface on our technical specifications, but we hope you enjoyed this peek behind the scenes on how we design, create and continually improve our offroad camping trailers.
