Everything You Need to Know About Teardrop Trailers in the USA
Teardrop trailers have become one of the most popular ways to explore the outdoors across the United States. Built for easy towing, fast setup, and rugged terrain, these compact campers offer the freedom to roam without the bulk of a traditional RV. Below, we break down what makes a teardrop trailer the perfect off-road companion—from design and use cases to why Off Grid Trailers stands apart in the world of American-made adventure trailers.
What Is a Teardrop Trailer?
A teardrop trailer is a small, towable camper with a curved aerodynamic profile and an efficient layout. Despite their compact size, they pack in everything you need: a sleeping area, galley kitchen, gear storage, and off-grid power systems. Teardrop trailers are especially popular with solo travelers and couples looking for freedom, simplicity, and access to remote places without needing a full-size RV.
Why Choose a Teardrop Trailer in the USA?
With thousands of miles of public land, national parks, and off-grid campsites, the United States is a playground for outdoor exploration. A well-built teardrop trailer gives you the mobility to chase adventure without the bulk. Whether you’re camping in the Mojave Desert, Appalachians, or Pacific Northwest, these trailers are small enough to go anywhere and tough enough to stay there.
What Makes Off Grid Teardrop Trailers Unique?
Off Grid Trailers aren’t retro throwbacks — they’re overland tools. Built entirely from aluminum and steel, with zero wood to rot or warp, our trailers are designed to thrive in all four seasons. Equipped with independent suspension, roof rack systems, and a modular galley, they’re built for durability, comfort, and complete off-grid independence.
Who Are Teardrop Trailers Best For?
Teardrop trailers are ideal for anyone who values simple setups and full access to nature. They're perfect for weekend warriors, road trippers, and overlanders who need a reliable, self-contained unit for sleeping, cooking, and storing gear. If you like the idea of towing your camper behind your Jeep or SUV, this is the format for you.

We are very excited about our 2023 Expedition 2.0. We even drove from Eastern Ontario to Edmonton to pick up our new trailer and we’re able to test it out on the way home. We are, so far, extremely pleased with the trailer. We cannot wait to see where the road will takes us and our OGT Expo 2.0.

I was able to find a demo trailer that had been a showroom model. It had all of the options I would have put on my own build, plus a few more. I would not have ordered the roof top tent, but after using it, I am happy this unit come with the tent. Very happy with the build quality and functionality of the Expedition 2.0. Looking forward to many great adventures and new memories

Awesome product! Wife and I took this camper out to put it to use, and it was all smiles. This might look small, but it’s packed with space and a LOT of cool accessories!
Don’t go with a poor quality made camper. Pay for a good one that’ll last, and has all of the top of the line accessories.

If you want a capable and very well built offroad trailer built in Canada 🇨🇦 my home Country look no further. We purchased a 2019 6 month old Expedition 2.0 . This rig is awsome. We have explored and taken this trailer with our 2014 Toyota Fj and 2016 offroad 4 runner on remote FSR roads and the west coast of Vancouver island and thru Alberta . The awning and side cooking drop down kitchen is the best . The sleeping quarters and mattress are super confertable. Very light and easy to tow . It has everything you need and nothing that you don't need . Less is more I believe. Highly recommend it . Enjoy exploring.

The staff at OGT are experienced at what they do! The company staff actually takes the trailers over-landing to understand what their customers needs are. Best built trailer on the market! Just be willing to wait for your new trailer as the wait list could be a few months. We had our trailer delivered!
